Project Objectives
IRMHUB aims to create and deploy a network of interregional Meta-Hubs focused on circular economy and green supply of critical raw materials. Through these hubs, the project will boost innovation, promote investment, and connect less developed regions with real opportunities for sustainable growth.
Funding Programme
This project is funded by the European Commission under the I3 – Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument, Call I3-2023-CAP2b, and managed by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA).
Consortium Members
The consortium includes 14 full partners and 12 associated entities, from 9 EU countries and Serbia. It is coordinated by the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece) and comprises universities, technology centres, public administrations, innovative SMEs, and industrial clusters.
Highlighted members:

– TalTech (Estonia)
Meta-Hubs and Mapping
The project will establish 3 regional Hubs focusing on:
- Wind energy and electric mobility
- Battery materials
- Metals and rare earth elements for microchips
These Hubs will be connected through a central Meta-Hub, acting as a coordination, integration, and knowledge transfer structure. A mapping of capacities and investment opportunities will also be developed to accelerate the transition towards sustainable value chains.
